Taco Rice Skillet lazy Recipe
Merge the fiercely savory magic of taco night with the ease of a one-pan dinner. By simmering uncooked rice directly in a seasoned broth with the browned beef, the grains absorb massive flavor from the inside out, resulting in a deeply satisfying, incredibly hearty skillet meal.
Ingredients
The Savory Core: 1 pound lean ground beef and ½ yellow onion (finely diced).
The Spice Emulsion: 1 packet (1 oz) premium taco seasoning.
The Liquid Bath: 2 cups beef or chicken broth and 1 cup thick, chunky salsa.
The Sturdy Base: 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice (rinsed well).
The Melty Crown: 1 ½ cups freshly shredded cheddar-jack cheese.
Instructions
The Meat Sear: Heat a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook, breaking the meat apart continuously, until entirely browned. Drain any excess fat.
The Spice Bloom: Stir the taco seasoning directly into the browned meat. Cook for exactly 60 seconds to aggressively toast the spices.
The One-Pan Simmer: Pour the beef broth and salsa into the skillet. Stir in the completely uncooked (but rinsed) white rice. Bring the mixture to a rapid, rolling boil.
The Patient Cook: Stir well, reduce the heat to the absolute lowest setting, and cover with a tight-fitting lid. Simmer completely undisturbed for 20 minutes until the rice is perfectly tender and has absorbed all the deeply flavored liquid.
The Cheesy Finish: Remove the skillet from the heat. Scatter the shredded cheese entirely over the hot rice. Cover with the lid for 3 minutes to trap the steam, violently melting the cheese into a spectacular, gooey blanket. Serve hot directly from the pan.
