The Easy Walking Tacos Recipe

The Easy Walking Tacos

Master the absolute easiest, most brilliantly messy-free dinner on the planet. By utilizing individual bags of chips as your actual bowl, you layer hot, savory taco meat and cool toppings directly into the bag, resulting in a highly textured, portable meal with zero dishes to wash.

Ingredients

  • The Edible Bowl: 6 individual, single-serve bags of Fritos or Doritos (Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch).

  • The Savory Core: 1 pound lean ground beef (80/20 ratio).

  • The Spice Emulsion: 1 packet (1 oz) premium taco seasoning.

  • The Essential Toppings: 1 ½ cups shredded lettuce, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, and ½ cup diced tomatoes.

  • The Cool Contrast: 1 bottle of taco sauce and ½ cup sour cream.

Instructions

  1. The Meat Sear: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef, breaking it apart until fully cooked. Drain the grease, stir in the taco seasoning and water according to the packet, and simmer until thick and heavily glazed.

  2. The Bag Prep: Take an unopened bag of chips and gently crush the chips inside with your hands just slightly (do not pulverize them; you just want bite-sized pieces).

  3. The Strategic Snip: Use scissors to cut off the absolute top of the bag, or turn the bag sideways and cut it open along the long edge to create a wider "bowl."

  4. The Generous Load: Spoon a massive, steaming ladle of the hot taco meat directly into the bag, right over the chips.

  5. The Towering Finish: Immediately toss in a handful of shredded cheese (so the hot meat melts it), followed by the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, a squirt of taco sauce, and a heavy dollop of sour cream. Hand over a fork and serve immediately.
